about

Live recordings.

"at KBOO"
recorded live at KBOO Community Radio in Portland, Oregon, during the Starlight Collective's special on experimentalportland.com. The improvisational set included lyrics to songs from the upcoming Troubled By Insects full-length still tentatively titled Trampolining.
The first time I tried to listen to this recording I had an anxiety attack. I still haven't listened to it all the way through.

"at Little Axe"
recorded live by d.Schultz at Little Axe Records in Portland Oregon, as part of "Experimental Portland presents..."
Technical difficulties hampered the original direction of this set, which was going to be an attempt to improv two noise/drone pieces with spoken word over each. However, when this became impossible to accomplish, I pushed the set into a harsh noise direction, so the majority of this recording is electronic feedback and the sound of a no-amp mixer being overloaded by sounds from several devices (effected guitar, contact mic loops, SP-202, cassette tape loops). Perhaps the final product here is more interesting than the original intention. [part III] of the Blue van Meer Mystery Sequence will allow that to go to public debate.

Major thanks to Nicholas and the KBOO crew letting me hang out in a working radio station at zero-dark-thirty on a Saturday morning.
Thanks to the bands I shared the night at Little Axe with: Cloud City Cars and Ritual Galaxy.

Immense gratitude to Robert Ham of Experimental Portland,
without whom neither of these performances would have occurred.
